Technology Trends Past And Beyond 2021

One of my nerdy hobbies (if you can call it that) is researching just about anything. Often it is technology, company and product related. Not to toot my own horn but I’ve done fairly well over the years at predicting what would be successes. Here are some of the business trends, companies, products and technologies that I’ve predicted over the past several years:

Mobile Phones

They will be the ‘next big thing’ where you can talk, interact with video, view content like movies, video chat and pay. I can see it collapsing or taking significant share from the camera and video camera market.

Ballard Power | ballard.com
They will be a very successful company and of the innovators to hydrogen electricity.

Hydrogen

Hydrogen might be the future instead of battery power. With battery power it could create plastic and chemical waste not to mention the need to increase the power grid. This means more construction, maintenance, mining, waste…

Andoid OS | android.com
Google’s Android OS will do very well, will be expanded and licensed. It will be one of the leading operating systems for mobile phones and possibly devices.

Autonomy
Vehicles will have some type of ‘traffic mode’ where sensors will be able to use radar/sonar to keep you a safe, calculated distance behind the car in front of you. More advanced sensors will be implemented so that a ‘self-driving car’ would be possibe.

Smart Homes / The Internet of Things (IOT)

The Internet will be so important that homes will have ‘internet’ ports just like electrical outlets that you would plug your device into.

Homes will be able to complete tasks to make our lives easier. The first example I think of is similar to scenes in the movies “Back to the Future” and “The Fifth Element.” There will be video phones where you can see an image of the person you are speaking with. There will also be robot helpers that will help complete remedial tasks like cleaning. You may also be able to call or communicate with your home to turn things on/off remotely.

Not all home-runs but not too bad. In my next blog post I will talk about 5 companies or innovations that will grow and shape our future. Stay tuned for New Top Tech Trends Beyond 2021 Part 2.
